Took rubber air intake hoses off on Sunday just to check all ok & refit & tighten all connections in the wild hope of clearing the emissions light on my dash.
Cleaned around butterfly valve with nothing more sinsiter than a dry cloth & now seems to stick at around 1500 rpm for ages before dropping to usual idle after 10-20 seconds.
No need for cruise as it drives itself now at 25mph!

You might have moved some muck around, try spraying some carb cleaner in there....

Agreed.
Take it off (4 bolts) and clean it to within an inch of its life with carb cleaner, taking care to clean the edges of the butterfly flaps.
Jobs a good 'un. :y

I'm not so sure. You guys have throttle cables, his should be drive by wire. Might want better advice b4 poking around too much.
Sometimes they recover if you turn the ignition on without starting the car for 60 seconds, but you had an emission light already which may mean bad accelerator pedal or feedback from throttle body.

Try a little 3:1 oil, a very little around the butterfly spindle, check you haven't disturbed the clear plastic tube in front of the body.
I hope to do a 'How to' very shortly on the Drive by Wire throttle body.
Let us know how you get on.

I would give it a day or so, to see if it settles down.
Reason i say that is, when i changed my air filter (it hadnt been changed for nearly 70k miles) the engine behaved noticeably different for a day or two then settled back to norm.......i guess the engine ecu had to 'learn' it was getting more air than it used to.

Now that's what I call a response to be proud of. Thanks AA I can see why you've been promoted to Global Moderator. :y
FYI my throttle body and butterfly edges are covered in black deposits - assumed to be dry oil but not sure what to clean it with at the time - I'll get some carb cleaner - nice touch with the pics.
My emissions light is still on - what is the little hole for that needs to be cleaned out and what happens if its blocked?
I'll let you know how it all works when I've done the deed.
