Title: Door Mirrors - Face Lift to Pre-Face Lift
Post by: MV6Matt on 01 November 2006, 06:57:46
Having seen a couple of photos in Vaux Mags in the last couple of months (so I know it can be done), does anyone know how easy/difficult it is to put Face lift door mirrors on a Preface lift car? (I'm talking elec/heated ones too)
The base plate looks identical (but I dont know for sure) - I don't think the Face lift door skin is that different from its predecessor - but would there be lots of adapting to do?
Are the electrics compatable?
Any advice greatfully recieved
Cheers
Matthew

Might be worth sending a pm to Gwilym who has just changed one of his on his facelift I think he had a pre facelift mirror on the drivers side so the electric imo should be the same.

Just checked the omega gallery here is the link http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1158776108;start=all

In there it shows a piccy of a facelift door with a pre facelift mirror on so I shouldn't think the electrics would be any different.

He may even post up.

HTH :)

My Facelift had 1 pre facelift mirror on drivers side on when I bought it, it took me 4 months to find a white facelift mirror and about 4 minutes to change it. The guy who put the pre facelift on (cos it needed a new mirror to pass MOT) told me it took him no time atall.

Basically it was Plug and Play.

Remove cover inside door
3 screws
Mirror pulls forward
Unplug Connector

and reverse processs with new mirror.

There is no reason I know of why they can't just be swapped over. I have had no problem

Just a thought; do the facelift mirrors fold in?

Yup,
that's the primary reason I want 'em!

Cool! Do they fold in electically?

On the 2001 onwards elites, yes......

They also have better aerodynamics and less wind noise.....

Is that with ignition or a switch?

Aint that the Truth!
I'm bringing Claymore mines to keep you lot out the way!
Face lift mirrors are like rocking horse s**t. There are 5 sets on ebay at the mo but the bloke wants a ton a mirror!

I think I can safely say It shouldn't be a problem to put them on a Pre-facelift car - Buying them probably will

Too right!
It just like the bloke who wanted £400 for those MV6 seats in the summer!

Anyway, none of the breakers near me ever see face lift mirrors - 'I'll keep an eye out for you' and when you check back they never seem to remember.

I shall have to wait. There's always VBOA I suppose.

Its with a switch (on the facelift window control panel on the drivers door) and if I remember correctly (would need to check the wiring diagrams) a small control relay.

Need to keep an eye on my facelift wing mirrors then!

Give Megavaux a call for mirrors, they sometimes have facelift cars in.......
