Hi
I was on my way from work last night when i heared a very disturbing crunching clicking noise from the front drivers side as i went around Right hand corners, Seems to be from the front leg area, Any ideas before i go and freeze my arse off in the cold??
Thanks

Hi Andy, as a rough guess without actually hearing the noise, I'd say any of the following could be the culprit:
loose wheel nuts
worn brake pads / corrosion on outer edge of disc (just making contact when turning)
rusty or damaged backing plate behind the disc
wheel bearing a bit loose or about to give up the ghost
I'd say it has to be related to anything that turns when the car is in motion, worn suspension usually gives clunks and groans!
Hope some of this helps and good luck ;)
Cheers Jim

Cheers jim,
Checked the wheel (super tight)
Only put the pads on last week but checked them anyway
This sound is like a metal to metal crunching noise,
I think it could be a snapped spring.
Think i will wait until it warms up a bit BRrrrrrrrrrrr

I would also be thinking the drop link rods as well.
I was also going to mention mudflaps, in case they were scraping the ground but note from you description that the car would be rolling the opposite way so flaps would not be touching the ground......

Crunching & clicking? sounds like plastic and/or sheet metal, I don't think it is serious, and more than likely easy to find. I would dive out there for a mad half hour, jack her up & spin the front wheels & listen. Hope it's just the backplate catching the rusty bit of the disc. Good luck.
