Post by: deano on 05 November 2006, 12:45:27
hi just brought a 2.6 v6 estate 2002 got some probs ,drivers door catch seized at bottom pulling bracket of innner wing, brake pedal on floor, knocking from front. i will take this up with dealer tomorrow but need to go with all the ammo can you all help with solutions please.

knocking from front - is it suspension related? If so, it will likely be wishbone bushes or droplinks.

brakes - Omega has progessive brakes, unlike the hair trigger brakes of something like Ford Focus.  Do the brakes stop? If not, sounds like caliper problem, or needs a good bleed.

door stay - do appear to be problematic, changing the bush where stay meets A post may help...

I'm sure others will put in their 2p worth as well ;)

Agree with TheBoy.....cambelt/etc shud be done every as said.

And it does sound like you got the plastic washer prob.....about 12p for the washer from vx dealer and TheBoy has an excelent how to on changing it. Have a look around  on this site and im sure you'll find it  :y

Just changed my washer and clicking/clunking noise is gone.....but use some white grease when fitting new washer.....i didnt bother to start with.....after a few days a plastic clicking noise appeared.....liberal spraying of white grease has sorted that out  :y

No problemo  ;)

Tho if it wasnt bought from vx dealer....it might still state 80k in the service book for cambelt change....so supplying garage might not know......but it is now 40k/4 years.....vx dealer would now this.

But having said that.....i bought my omega with 42k on the clock.....from a vx dealer.....after picking it up....a few days later i called the vx dealer and asked if they changed the cambelt/tensioners ....after a being on hold for a bit i was told no we didnt.....take it to your nearest vx dealer and we'll pay the bill!Which i did and they did to  ;)

If it came with a 40kish full service.....then on vx's that should include cambelt/tensioner change unless they can prove the cambelt has been changed recently

On that last dealer stamp; does it have the Vx dealer stamp and phone number on it, if so give them a ring and ask them if cambelt and tensioners were done  and if yes, ask them to send the evidence
Cheers Pete
