Title: So did changing my oil kill crank sensor?
Post by: theolodian on 21 November 2006, 17:04:44
When I finally got the right filter and put it all back together, I hit the canister with carb cleaner since it was messy.  Didn't see the crank sensor right there.  Must have gotten a good spray of carb cleaner.  Car ran fine until I changed the oil  :-/ ;)

Strangely, mine failed shortly after I had to top it up with oil in France....  ....not that I think that has anything to do with it...

On my previous 2.0, it failed just after I had filled up with Texaco 'super' (or whatever their best petrol was called at the time) - I think that because it is normally a random event (unless you clonk it or crimp the wire), and we all have a bit of logic in us somewhere, we try and look for a 'reason', rather than just accepting that s*ds law will often come into play :(
