Hi All
Just driven to work on the coldest morning of the year so far and I
am freezing.
I have had no heat for a couple of days now and I am trying to
resolve.
Well I do have heat but can't get the heat out of any vents, this
happened last year but it fixed itself, but this time it looks bleak.
All of these bells and whistles are fine when working but when they
go wrong!!
The dash is the one with the 4 round pods in the middle with the vent
direction one second from the right.
Has anyone any ideas if this can be fixed either easily, not at all
of very expensively. If it can be fixed does anyone have a second
hand vent POD or know where I can find one?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks :'(

So are you saying you dont have any heat at all coming into the cabin?
Do you have air con or climate?
-
If you have heat but no direction control, check that the vacuum pipes on the valve unit are connected.
The valve is located behind the central control facia.
screws are located;
1 in the top of the ashtray, about 4" back, hard to find the first time
1 behind each of the 4 control knobs.
I think thats all.
Missed one point, I have a complete heater pod on the shelf if you need to change it, (it was the last thing to come out of the car I stripped and it was a bu33er then)

Hi Taxi Driver
I have climate control, I had this problem once last year and it sorted itself after a few days, but this time it looks grim, look daft driving to work with gloves and scarf etc.
Will try what issunaz suggests, just waiting for some radio removals tools and I will have a look at the back of my panel.
When it works you can hear the vents opening as you press the buttons, but as I say it's been a few days now and I'm freezing in it.
Anyway, thanks for the advice, will let you know what I find.

Check the vac feed pipes in the engine bay, one goes to a reservoir above the pollen filter and then off to the back left of the engine bay and into cabin. Another one returns through the same point to the heater bypass valve.

Hi
Just had the phone call from the main VX Dealer, when I booked it in for an LPG service they updated my records with mileage etc, Tried to mug me into a 100,000.00 service. I declined, said just an LPG service please and check why I have no heat direction etc.
Anyway they phoned me up and said spark plugs need changing, coil spring on the back broken, whoa!! It only came in for an LPG service, the car was only MOT'd a month or two back! Oh and by the way you have a "Heater Control" fault, this is why it was in !!
Anyway to cut a long story short to fit Heater Control Unit inc vat and labour £231.47.
The heater control unit, is this the round POD with the up, face, feet, screen buttons etc they said it was part number 90544158 if this is any help.
Is this the part that you have issunaz? If it is how easy will it be to fit myself and how much would you want for it?
Many thanks

I think I read in the manual somewhere about pressing two buttons at once to reset the servo motors. Or is that just with climate? Or, am I just talking 'dangle berries'...again :-/
-
Nope... Holding in the Auto and Off button (mine has the 4 pod things - which I think 'is' the climate one) resets the vents. Need to hold them in for about 5 seconds and then you'll hear a load of whirring. When it goes quiet, all should be reset (as far as I know). :y

Remember, if you change the climate unit for one from ebay (last one cost me £30 there), try and get one from same body style (saloon/estate) as they have different configs. They can be reconfigured via Tech2.

Doesn't say if from saloon or estate.
Other than that, correct part.
I can change them in around 25mins, so if never done before, give yourself 1hr - 1hr30

Its clipped into place the clip(s) should be more visible when looking into the cage
Its a hook clip type design push across to release found on both sides

Cant you pull the cage out with the connector still attached far enough to simply reach in and release the securing bar.....
-
Well I'm getting there, managed to get to the pull down bar, with a struggle got it free. Got the unit nearly out but how do you disconnect the wiring plugs.
According to haynes you slide the locking catches etc and unplug but I don't know what I am looking at?
It doesn't help now with it being dark and holding an inspection lamp, I bet after all of this when I put the other unit in, if I ever get it in, the heater controls will still not work, yet again duff information from the main stealers!
There was also some strange wiring accross the upper inner lip of the console, there was a red and black wire running to just past the top corners of the console and held in place by tape??
They were not connected to anything which is strange, I have tok some photo's but I cannot get them out of my Kodak phot progamme album thingy on my PC.
God I'm hopeless at technology!
Any help with the above points would be appreciated.

err no :-[
In the Haynes picture the front switches were still in situ :'(
Will try to get them out tomorrow without putting the console back in, are the pkugs easier to get out without the switches in?
May run into Sunday this job, got footy in tomorrow afternoon!
Thanks one and all for the suggestions
-
yes, need to remove. Some have screws behind switches ;)
