Title: Heating - a question
Post by: bob.dent on 01 December 2006, 11:38:52
I find that my heater gets warm but doesn't get particularly hot even on the highest temp setting. Is this a common thing with Omega's or is there a problem? With other Vauxhalls I've driven over the years they have been very hot after about 10 minutes of driving from cold.

By the way, I have the manual system with the rotary controls (not climate).

Both types (climate and rotary) get uncomfortably hot, so seems you may have a problem.  HBV working OK?  Air locks in cooolant?  Good vacuums?

I had the HBV changed about 4 months ago so coolant was changed then. Engine temp is normal and no coolant leaks. Still haven't completely sorted the vacuum problems (Jaime - you may remember from Santa Pod) but would these affect the heat? Could be an airlock, but how would I check for this or is it a garage job? (Don't forget I'm useless under the bonnet!!) :-[

If the vacuums aren't right going to heater system, you may not have enough adjustment on the blender to make it hot air only.

As for airlock, with engine cold, remove cap, start engine, and has it heats up, try to squeeze the coolant hoses to expel any air...  ...Haynes warns of airlock in heater matrix, but I've never seen it happen...

Never had an airlock on an Omega, even if this was the case, it would have cleared itself after a few days, never mind months>

flushing and reverse flusing the matrix with a hose pipe cured this for me on my old elite...
