Homest answer is that I really don't know mate, I would have imagined the Omega having more distance between it's rear wheels than a Calibra, but in truth I don't have a clue.
I'm sure someone who knows will post up soon!
-
well all i shall be taking will be the dif itself, the rest will be binned/scrapped...
-
I've got a diff sitting on the floor in my garage, off a 98 "R" reg 2.5 Omega
If you're interested :)
-
I think the Cally rear diff is a Carlton diff - I sort of remember reading it somewhere
-
Yes it looks like a 2l. carlton diff.
Trouble is, Omega diffs are a development of the six cylinder Carlton diff. :(

Wasn't the Calibra front wheel drive...? :o

I believe so...

Calibra was based on the cav/veccy...

Calibra was based on the cav/veccy...
The vecy was FWD and had a gearbox with integrated diff - I know because I installed one of these in an Astra some years ago - so if the Calibra is anything like that then I don't see how this can fit a RWD Omega in any shape or form? :o

I assumed it was one of the 4x4 ones. At least I think they did some, I know they did some 4x4 Cavaliers.

Ahhh... 4x4 Calibra... didn't think about that one. But now it actually makes sense - they would have probably used an existing diff rather than develop one from scratch for what was a limited production model...

to clarify..
Calibra Turbo 4x4 - 4WD, C20LET, F28-6 Gearbox
Cavalier Turbo 4x4 - same as above
was also a 2ltr 16v N/A 4x4 Calibra, and also GSI 4x4 Cavalier with 20XE

Hence where my name came from......DTM calibra (turbo 4x4), yes, Carlton rar diff.....slightly different (the half shaft wont fit)

Further to my previous post, note that Carltons had 2 different diffs.
1.8ltr & 2.0ltr saloon had one type.
All estates and 6 cylinder cars & Senator, Monza, etc. had a stronger one which had a tendancy to whine if not built exactly spot on.
The Omega diff. is a development of the latter one, main improvement being that new ones are usually quiet ;D

So what does the DTM stand for?

The 4wd Cavalier and Calibra used a variant of the Carlton rear axle & suspension - I remember reading this
