To me thats utter bo-llox as I am running on the same size wheels and my tyres are the same if you check in your vx handbook it shows the tyre pressures so they must be legal, cant say ive had problems buying tyres.

Hi,
A 4 cylinder on 15" wheels can run on 195 or 205/65x15s according to the Haynes manual.

  Hope this helps,
                        Pete :y.

they would only be illegal if the tyre circumfrance makes it so the speedo is giving speeds out at more than 2.5% innacurate

I run the standard for my cars - the Elite is 225/55/16, MV6 is 235/45/17.  GLS/CD tend to be 195/65/15

FaceLift CD CDX are 225 55 R16

I had a full run down off VX of my Car after I gave them the Chas No and I had 225 50 R16 so I changed them to the Orig Size of 225 55 R16

My 1999 2.0 GLS runs on 195/65 15 at the moment but needs two tyres replacing. I've got a set of four brand-new 185/65 15 in my workshop and a friend says it's OK to change from 195 to 185 so long as I change all four tyres. It'll save me a lot of money if I can do it. Is this a good idea?

Not sure i'd be going any skinnier  :-? As for the technical implications, i'm not positive. But the omega is a big car and rides better and is safer with bigger wheels & tyres. I think the grip and comfort you would attain from moving to larger 16" wheels would be much more preferable.

There's a couple of firms doing 25% off/3 for 4 when you buy a set of tyres atm. Michelins, Pirelli's etc.

as long as you have them fitted in axle pairs there should be no problems if your running two different sizes just put the largest to the rears.

205/65-15 with winter tyres (original wheels)
235/45-17 with summer tyres (aftermarket)

Upgrading to the low-profile tyres definately improved the handling and firmed things up. Got rid of the wallowing feeling. Recommended. Just not so great in the snow (challenging to drive!), not that we get much here, which is why I keep my old ones for the winter.
