Title: Fixed my throttle problem today
Post by: Chopsdad on 06 January 2007, 22:54:50
Took it up to Vx and had a quiet word with the Techie.  Ran the Tech2 over it and fault code still PO100 - MAF sensor - but he did search for software updates and installed newer version 2.096 for me.

Turned off the engine and fired it up - oh shitt - it rumbled like it was missing a cylinder (and it's already 2 down) and the EML lit up - Zero throttle response.

Knocked it off and on again and we're in business - Throttle whizzing up and down like it should and idle consumption now constant at 0.2 (ususally 03/0.4) - Hoo bloody ray  :y

MAF fault still present and lit up again on the way home, so I'm gonna fit a new MAF £40 on Ebay (genuine Vx & new) and he refused my bung for the second time - so actually it seems fair enough to me.  He seems to know his Meega's and says they shoudn't but do fail often - I know this isn't always true but it's worth a go at this stage.

 ;D  ;D  ;D  I knew I hadn't buggered it up myself  ;D  ;D  ;D

What's next - Fuel Filter tomorrow and Wishbones next week  :y

Good news :)

He may have not switch off ignition for long enough after flashing, hence missing as soon as he flashed it - ECU needs time to reset after flash, about 20s...

Excellent news!  :y

Looks like you have a good dealer there for tech2 jobbies, most charge you £50 just to plug it in!

Bet its running nice now since you cleaned the throttle body's too  :)

I drove it 3 miles to fill up with fuel and when I restarted it the EML lit up again.  I turned it off and tried again and it's been good as gold since.  Been 150 miles today with at least 8 restarts and apart from the MAF fault it's all ok now.

& yes Tunnie - nice and smooth now - not 100% imo, so fuel filter to fiddle with next and replace the MAF.  If that doesn't do it I'll hand the keys over & pay  :-[
