Title: 2.2 plug well oil
Post by: JeffT on 12 January 2007, 13:46:32
Following earlier posts, have decided to take off coil pack / HT leads this weekend and check plugs. If there is oil down the plug wells, what exactly does this indicate? Have done a search but can't seem to find the definitive answer. My earlier post was ref. CEL staying on and engine hesitating/under-powered

This usually indicates the rocker cover gasket has failed and needs replacing. Usually you replace the O'rings aswell that are for the bolt holes.

Hope this helps

Oil in plug wells will be from leaking camcover gasket.

You will need genuine Vx gasket and O rings plus a tube of black sealant (dont accept green)
Clean out the whole breather system and check the drillings into throttle body or manifold are clear.

I think this is covered in a Maintainance Guide
