Question relates to my V6 Meega
dog workhorse.
Over the last few days, when setting out in the mornings, the automatic gearchange is VERY jerky, makes a horrible noise and he whole car shudders.
Drive half a mile or so, and it's absolutely fine.
Autobox shagged?
I changed the autobox fluid about 3 months ago.

Check the level again as a first....

so after 10 mins, starting off from a stand still its fine??
Suggests the box is fine really if its ok when warm? - Does it rev high before the changes?
-
yup, after 5 mins it's as smooth as a baby's bum
just jerky when cold! makes awful noises too.
I will check the fluid level when the ground is dry!

Shame the g/box ecu isn't updatedable on yours :(
-
Does it feel like it is slipping?
Did you do all the filters?

It deliberately stalls the gearchange when cold to heat up the catalytic convertor anyway doesn't it? Hence after 5 minutes or so, when it's warmed - it appears fine.

Mine is a bit jerky for the first few minutes as well, but doesn't make any nasty noises.
Only happens when really cold and been stood overnight. I gather that this is normal.
Does updating the software on the gearbox ECU smooth this out?

From my own experience, and reports of others, all changes are smoother...
