Just changed a main beam bulb (RHS). First time I've changed one on Omega. Anyway, as I pressed the bulb into position the whole reflector unit inside the headlight moved forward. It now seems to be very loose inside the light. When I pull the reflector back, it seems to hold firmer, but doesn't seem secure.
Have I knocked it of a bracket or the height adjustment servo, as I can't believe its supposed to be that loose.

If you are lucky it will just be the adjuster motor ball joint popped out...movement will be at bottom.
If movement is at top then one of the adjusters has broken. I think Mcburger did a repair guide for these.

Movement is at the bottom only. I think you just have to twist the servos to get them out to relocate them (I hope!).
Bloody awkward to change the bulbs on the Omega. It's a skin off knuckles job if you're not too careful. Not great to do in the dark either as I've just found out.

Cheers, I'll try it tomorrow. Nice wet 'n' windy weather out there now.
Is it better to have the whole headlight unit off the car to do it? I think I have located three screws that hold it on (2 at top and 1 under bumper).
I'm presuming that this will have buggered up the headlight alignment now. What do you reckon?

Should be possible in-situ. Remove filter box or battery for access. Might need a torch and mirror to see where to clip the ball back into.
Alignment will not have moved and should be OK if you used good quality bulbs.

In the cold light of day, took headlight unit out and found that the block that the adjuster mechanism works in has snapped.
As you can imagine I'm not overly chuffed that a job that should be simple like changing a bulb has led to a buggered headlight unit. If I ever come across the idiot that designed it I'll have some very strong words! [smiley=grin.gif].
Of course, its going to be difficult to fix due to access problems to the inside of the unit.
On the up side, I now know how to take the headlight out!

Anyone know where to find the repair guide from Ronald McBurger for the headlight adjuster. I've had a good look, but my searching skills leave a lot to be desired!

Hi, if you get a nut spinner(10mm I think) and remove the small piece of trim just below the headlight, it just pulls off, it is very easy to remove the headlamp. Repairing it is, as stated, just a matter of locating the ball back in the socket. This should not affect the alignment as you do not need to touch the adjusters.

Yet another day wasted because OberOpelDesignFurher decided to save 0.5 pence per car on plastic! [smiley=sad.gif]
The adjustment slides that hold the reflector in place had indeed snapped in three places. Found the other light was the same. . . great!
Only way to get into the light to fix it was to remove the clear plastic front. which was a job in itself and get in there with the Araldite. I can confirm that it is possible to do this if you have most of an afternoon to spare and a stanley knife, but if your pockets are full of cash, go and get a new light unit, far easier!
Sikaflex'd the front back on, put them both back on the car, and would you believe it, checked the headlight adjustment against a photo I'd taken yesterday against the garage door and it was exactly the same (hadn't moved the car since).

I think McB's guide was on the other side.
I will see if I can get it, otherwise will write a new one, I repaired two headlights over Christmas so it should be in memory somewhere.
