Title: MOT looms reverse
Post by: bigall on 19 January 2007, 13:14:23
Gave car a  pre MOT checkover indicator light bulbs faded changed them  Rear fog lights bulbs gone??? changed them - no change still don't work
Indicator lights on switch and on facia display OK.
Am I right in thinking that rear foglights are in the cluster on the boot lid and on both sides
Does anyone have a circuit diagram of the facelift electrics or the wire colour code so that I can begin to trace the wiring back from the bulb sockets. My fav location is were the wiring goes from bootlid into the main body of the car.  Anyone any other good locations to try and find break

In the boot behind the hard black/dark grey trim, driver's side is the connector plug where a 'proper' GM trailer wiring loom would be pluged in. These looms will disconnect the car's fog light when the trailer is pluged in so when the car leaves the factory there is a small blue/black link wired pluged in in its place. Check that it's still there, the car might have had a towbar and the link removed.

Thanks Andy B that could be it.
When I got the car 8 months ago the first thing I had did was to have a towbar and electrics put on it. Will take the cover off and have a look how they did it - if that wire is missing - it wasn't a Vx tow and electrics- then a trip back to the installer
I take it by cover you mean the plastic strip that runs at rear of boot by the locking mechanism?
Do you know the socket colour that the wire should go into by any chance?

Cheers.

Yes that's the trim. You'll need your Torx drivers
After market towbar installers tend to just use a big box of Scotch-lock connectors so I doubt they would have used the 'proper' Vauxhall loom. But the bridging wire in the plug if it's still there could be used as a starting point.
