Title: Estate load cover
Post by: stuart30 on 25 January 2007, 01:01:02
Could someone please advise how the load cover in the estate is removed.....i see there's a small flat red plastic insert near the end of the runners but it appears to do nothing what so ever.

Thanks in advance.

On the old astra, which looks the same, it was just a whack from underneath at one side, then pull the otherside out, will check if its the same when I go out to the car.

I think TD is talking about just removing the cover, my way all comes out, and easy back in.

Will confirm in a bit.

EDIT:
The quick release bit I thought was there, appears to just be in my head, Sorry.

On my estate it was a case of pulling the cover forward until it ws all in the two 4 inch carrier sections at the rear then pull whilst twisting the forward facing bit down and it comes out.

Pull all the rods back towards you until they are in the 4 inch removable sections of rail. Grip the whole bundle of rails and pull back further against spring pressure then hold the pressure as you rotate the bundle downwards at the front.

If everything is working correctly then the rods are retained in the removable section of track by the red clips.
To refit the cover, just reverse the sequence...engage the retainers in the track, pull back against the spring and rotate upwards.

Dead easy to do, not easy to describe.
