Title: DASH ILLUMINATION
Post by: Omegatoy on 26 January 2007, 20:25:55
Hi guys,
project Omega is all up and running sweetly but i have no dashboard illumination except for the mid display and the switch lights which work and dim with the rheostat after having a quick poke around and changing the bulbs in the dash i leaning towards the actual light switch being faulty,
any ideas? anyone had the problem before? anyone want to fix it for me?

strange one this, i have seen it. As he says MID works but none of the other dials, I gave it the old "techy" wack... no joy.

MID will DIM with Switch as he says.... its the first time i have seen that, normally its just been a loose connection.

Btw public thanks for sourcing the Rad  :y

You've not by any chance had a faulty battery on the vehicle, or jump started it recently have you. Sometimes, when a battery goes faulty on a cell or two, the alternator is tricked and tries to compensate, the accumulator (Battery) can't harness this current as it would normally (BALLAST) therefore, any very fine fillaments in bulbs and sometimes sensitive radio's can go bump in the night..  Had this happen several times over the years..

Just a thought

Thanks Dave as a matter of fact the garage that couldnt get it running had jumped it and even put three batterys on it to turn it over faster!!! however having changed the bulbs this should have cured that particular scenario???

Worth double checking the bulbs?  I think I have some here if they are blown (not new though, so may have short life).  Also, ensure dash fully seated...
