Good Luck, and if you need any help with translating the hungarian let me know, I can help out there :y

I've had two squibs go faulty, that's the link from the steering wheel to the column, I'd put money on that, then, apparently! The warning light needs turning off in TECH II.. I'm sure it doesn't cycle out like engine management sensors..
DC
P.S. what's your tech II, why Hungarian? etc.....

The airbag light can only be reset with a Tech II, AFAIK, the only software available (apart from a real Tech II) capable of resetting the air bag light is in Hugarian.

There are some members who seem to get all the probs, while others (touch wood) seem to be quite lucky
-
To update members who didn't follow the original saga.
Drivers door air bag sensor replaced under warranty January 2006.
Air bag sensor light came on in November 2006, diagnosed by TheBoy as drivers door airbag sensor.
Replaced, and light reset by TheBoys real Tech II.
Now the lights come on again.
It's got to be something else other than the drivers door bag sensor for it to keep coming on.
I'll try and take a reading in daylight tomorrow, and try and reset it with the software I've got.
Otherwise, it looks like a trip to Northampton again, if that's OK with you TB.

Fortunately, it passed the MOT a couple of weeks or so ago.

You should get several lines of hungarian.....list ecu type/version/etc then read codes button will be clickalbe and not greyed out :y

Cool... :y
Altho if it keeps coming on 71 means communication error......so could be dodgey connection somewhere......and be worth following the diagnostic :y

I agree, the last time it happened TheBoy and I cleaned alot of the connections, but the fault reappeard.
We then decided it must be a faulty sensor, so I replaced it (last November).
The fact that it has now happened again does point to a faulty connection somewhere.
I will investigate further.
-
The upside is that the cheapo TechII seems up to the job :y
So I haven't wasted my money, only decided to buy it last week - is that an Omen :o
-
Glad its sorted AA, sorry to be so slow to respond to this thread.
It was a 71 when you brought it over, and replacement helped.
I would wait and see if it happens again, then go from there... ...I can't believe the sensor could have faired again (unless it is getting damp etc??)

Glad the TechII did what it says on the box (or on eBay to be precise, as it does not actually come with a box...)
Have you tried connecting it to other systems yet e.g. auto gearbox, ABS/TC, Aircon, etc...?

I can't believe it's the sensor again, will investigate the connections in the side panel.

Not yet, only engine and airbag, one thing at a time. ;)
TheBoy cleared all existing fault codes when I was over there in November.
The surprising thing was the airbag message was in English!

So you dont get P0700 and P1700 when reading the engine codes then AA?
My EML came on again today for a while then went off.......if i could be arsed to read the codes again i bet P0700 and P1700 will be back again :( Youve got your airbag light, ive got my EML light grrrr >:(

The only fault codes in existance, if I remember correctly, were very old radio codes. No other codes were showing.
Gearbox and engine software were up to date.
I don't have any more fault codes stored, as far as I can tell.
Haven't used the car today, other than to reset the airbag code, and done a few stops and starts to check it.
-
Just an update, done a lot of miles today, lots of stops and starts.
Ok at the minute :y

Hmmm and i was thinking P0700 and P1700 were common codes for 2.2's.....wonder whats causing mine then? :-/ As you dont get them. Probably a loose connection somewhere too! maybe?
-
TD, maybe they need clearing, and wont disappear on their own?
-
Just a point too, don't be tempted to do tests with a multimeter, the voltage MAY fire the pyros off! I know someone who this happened to, ARSE!

This is not the one I have, and I believe AA's is the same as mine... so if you do get this unit, I will be very interested to se which software it uses and how it compares with my unit...
