Title: Remote boot opening.
Post by: cookie on 31 January 2007, 10:11:54
I can open the boot on my 3.2 omega with the button on the ignition key, but not with the button on the dashboard. It is obviosly a wiring fault. Is this a common fault someone can direct me to - or I have got to check the whole wiring loom?

Mark you are brilliant. Had a Y reg omega which opened instantly. My new 2002 Elite takes 6 seconds. Cheers mate.

Press and hold the button on the dash - does it open then ;)

Actually, I should clarify that.

Earlier facelifts had a silly system where boot would only open with engine off, key in ignition, quick press of button.  If you have one of these, see Hillper's post about modifying it.

Later facelifts had a system where the boot would open if button pressed and held for 2s...

On 2001 cars, the boot can only be opened from the dash button if the key is not inserted in the ingnition.

On 2002-2003 cars, the boot can be opened from the dash button with the key insterted, but it requires a very long press (hold it down for 10 seconds or so)

If neither methods work, you may have a wiring problem.

Sorry TB, I am on ie7, the one that 'bombs-out' all the time, so I had to repost three times and only then noticed you already answered the question ...   ;D

Should use Firefox....  :-/

And wiring is simple....there is only one of them....plus a feedback line to illuminate the LED when the boot is open.
