Title: Can facelift shocks & springs be fitted to my MV6?
Post by: Paul M on 20 January 2007, 21:36:24
My MV6 being a non-facelift of course. If so what differences did VX make over the years (stiffness, ride height etc).

I'm thinking of replacing my ageing springs and dampers, and was wondering if it's worth going for parts from the facelift MV6.

Also I have self-levelling suspension, can I just dump it and disconnect the pump?

Self leveling can simply be removed by pulling the pump fuse and fiting normal shocks.

Some suspension changes were made at facelift which improved the ride quite a lot.....including springs, shock and wishbone bushes...

Why would you not fit a set of Bilsteins or similar though....

Cheers Mark. So do these changes mean they won't fit, or are the mounts etc still the same?

Bilsteins are megabucks, great dampers (I had them on my Impreza along with Eibach springs as part of a Prodrive kit) but I think it's maybe overkill for this car.

I just fitted KYB gas shocks all round, quite cheap from buypartsby but seem OK, massive improvement over the old ones, lowering springs from Venom on order, only £65 + VAT  :)

Check the prices for Bilsteins in the On-Line advert in Total Vauxhall or on the web. They are not as bad as you would expect.

Is it really as simple as disconnecting the fuse for the pump and fitting normal shocks?
