Title: Veccy Paperclip Test
Post by: Timbuk on 01 February 2007, 14:55:46
Has anyone ever papercliped a Veccy before with success? Pops has got a 97 2.0 CDX, all the veccy sites are saying pins 5 & 6 but it's just not working :-/

Is this with the engine running or with the key turned to have dashlights showing?

My 2.0 flashes the codes without the engine running as above maybe worth ago.

Is it a 16pn aldl connector?

Supposedly the vectra has a simtec 56.5 same as mine so in principle should flash the codes the same way.

Now your getting technical :o  Its exactly the same as my meega, down to the positioning of every pin and every blank :-?

Tried it with the engine running?

Is it the later X18XE1 engine with drive by wire throttle?

Yup, tried it with engine running and ignition only, drive by wire ... er i dunno... 97 car wouldn't have thought so. Link 5 & 6 and the eml goes off and thats it :-/

Its just possible, the Vectra went drive by wire quite early on with the 1.8 (Think it was actualy late 98 thouhg).....is there a throttle cable?

I assume the ECU bulb is working ok.....

What are the fault symptoms...?

Dunno about cable, i'll ask him later. It was cutting out when slowing down which i think was the icv, cleaned it out along with the breathers and it seems ok now, but just wanted to know why it wouldn't paperclip

It should work........

Did you also clean the throttle body and fit a flame trap to the front right breather elbow?

T'was in the boot earlier when we met, should have gone through your systems to see if any codes stored. Didn't think, sorry.

I've paperclipped a R plate 1.8 (X18XE I think - not DBW).  It works.

Bit useless for me as the ECU did not store a fault - came down to a duff crank sensor spiking the ECU on warm up
