Hi!
Does anybody know the part numbers for the brake and clutch switches when fitting cruise control to a 1997 2.5 V6 Reflection?? The "how to" guide states they are both xzxzxzxzxzxz, which I assume isn't correct! I've noted somewhere else on her says that the 4 pin brake switch is no. 9149766, but I can't find the page again! Can anybody help please, cos I know the local main dealer will just say "what's the chassis number?" and then give up when he finds they aren't already fitted to my car.

The dealer won't care what was fitted. He will have a simple choice for your VIN/Engine combo - cruise or non cruise... :)

Clutch pedal switch 90494519 after S chassis
Water pump bracket (cruise) 90469353 (not really the right part)
E-clip for cruise cable 11051532 (come in pack of 10)
Brake switch for cruise 9149766
Clutch switch is about £15 from dealer, brake switch around £12.

it will be good to know how you get on. I've just called the local stealer for the water pump bracket (to make sure they had it before I made the effort to get there) and all I got was ' computer says no......'

That water pump bracket is a strange one. The dealer told me no such thing, but it was there on an old EPC.
Gave the part number and the dealer ordered it in - doesn't seem like the right part but it can be used to do the job.

Just been to the local main dealer. And guess what - they're in the middle of moving to another site and won't be able to even consider looking for the switches until next week. Typical of my luck!
Anyway, before going there I had a good look to make sure the switches weren't already in place - they weren't - but noticed that on the existing brake switch, with the 2 blades, there are only 2 wires going to the mulitplug. Shouldn't there be another 2 as well?? if so, where are they? The clutch pedal switch was taped up neatly and was easy to find, but I couldn't see any other spare cables at all.

mine has 4 but when I'm down there at the weekend fitting my new switches I'll note down the cable colours for you - they do not agree with Haynes on my '99 reflection. THat may help you trace them.
I'll also try to get a pic of the cable run - that may help as well

I wonder if in this case just the clutch switch is needed.

I think you might have a point there. I've been emailing some vauxhall dealers' parts departments, and have been told by Grasmere Vauxhall that the brake switch I need is part number 9149765, which they say is the same as the non-cruise control switch on early omegas. If thats the case there would seem to be no point in changing it, as I'd be replacing like with like.
They also state that the clutch switch I need is part number 90494519, which the earier contributor above says is for the later model. Perhaps there's just a change in the part numbers rather than the part itself? I've had similar problems with parts having 2 numbers, despite being identical, on my previous Senator.
Perhaps I should just fit the clutch switch to start and see how I get on??

My 98 auto didn't work with the 2 pin switch, I had to change for the 4 pin one. Unless there is a different between manual and auto?

Clutch switch: I don't think they're too fussy. I believe a Vectra one will fit the hole too. The EPC does list two part numbers though, one for the older chassis.
Brake switch: Ultimately the cruise module appears to monitor both pairs of contacts from the brake switch. Mine did need the 4 pin switch but then I had the wiring for a 4 pin switch. I wonder that if you don't have the wiring for a 4 pin switch you don't need one... maybe. Might depend on the programming of the cruise module itself.
I'd certainly wouldn't buy the 4 pin switch until I'd tried without.

The EPC definitely lists a different clutch switch for before S1221921. The illustration shows old and new as well. Looks jolly similar, probably would fit the same hole.
If you have only 2 wires to the brake switch and (even with clutch switch in place) no cruise, how about this:
Get the 4 pin brake switch and wire the two spare contacts in series with the clutch switch circuit. Either pedal pressed breaks the circuit: cruise drops out. Should be perfectly safe (assuming you wire it up right!).

Good news!
I've just fitted the cruise module and indicator arm, and bridged the clutch switch as a temporary measure, and it works! The cruise activates as it should, and switches off at a press of the brake pedal or at the indicator arm.
Would seem to be the case that if you have 4 wires into the multiplug at the brake switch you need the 4 pin switch for cruise to work, and if you've got 2 wires the standard switch will do.
I can't believe my luck! Usually if I fell into a bucket of tits I'd come out sucking my thumb!
