With regard to the ongoing saga that is my wife's 1.4 Meriva.
Condensed history...breathers blocked 80% restricted with gunk. Vx cleaned breathers, ran engine flush and changed oil/filter in Jan 07. I checked in Sept 07 and blocked again to the same extent.
Water level marked in Jan and only dropped 5mm. No brown on dipstick. No mayo on cap (this time).
Vx have ordered new ROCKER COVER GASKET and TOP HOSE to resolve the problem.
Will it work???????

It won't stop the breathers blocking no. Sounds like the engine is breathing to heavy to me. Has the car always had regular oil changes?????

Not likely - it was run by Vx as a demo for 12m before I bought it and I'd imagine 12m between changes. Although I do know it was only done in Jan of this year. (It doesn't get the love and attention of my Omega)

Is that 12 miles or 12 minutes :question

How does the Mevira get driven? Breathers clogging to that extent doesn't seem very normal to me.
Also, you mention several months between changes - how many miles between changes are you going? If doing short runs especially, do the oil and filter every 3,000 miles and see if that makes any difference.
I suspect a problem though, if they are getting that bad...
If it's under warranty.. push for a fix asap!

It's driven 20 miles along the M6 each way at least 3 times a week. Very few short runs in between and breathers are the only sign of a fault. It ticks over and runs really smoothly, doesn't use any oil and only lost a bit of water. I really can't see it being HGF but not sure what else would cause such problems. Mileage from last oil change in Jan - about 4 - 5000.

Who does the oil changes? May be worth asking what oil they use - some seem more prone to mixing with the condensation than others....

I get Zero condensation with GM oil.... others have said the same....

Vx Semi Synth. They're now taking the head off and replacing the 16 oil seals - next week of course as they forgot to order them yesterday ;D Anthing else I should push for - it is after all still under warranty :y

Have the complete breather system cleaned out and all in line filters replaced for starters....

Not very good your local lot are they!
There original approach will only allow for it to be cleaned up
If they are removing the head and replacing the stem seals, this will also not stop condensation and its not like it was burning oil!!!!
There is of course the possability its the head gasket and in which case you might get a fix but:
1) The head need to be checked for flatness and skimmed as required.
2) The head should be pressure tested!
I personaly think they should just fit a GMX head.....

Can they do a pressure test to confirm it is the HG before they replace the oil seals? I'd rather they didn't replace any parts that are running fine as the engine runs sweetly now and Vx interference always concerns me. I know they'll only be following a diagnosis flowchart as independant thought is not allowed. I do have a good relationship with the Dealer, so if I could explain the hows and whys and they think I know what I'm talking about they may go for a proper fix.....I'll pass on your details Mark and you can pretend to be me ;) And no, they aren't very good.

Good luck mate, stick to your guns with what you want as well ;)
