My MV6 is in for service today. (At least now I can take it to my friendly, helpful local garage, rather than the Vx main dealer I had to use for the old company car :)).
But they just phoned to confirm my suspicions - that my wishbones are shot. Advised against the Vx replacements, but still want £90 a side. My days of scraping knuckles on the front drive are over, so unless Tunnie offers to pop over at the weekend to do it for less ;) I think I'll just pay the man...

You'll be lucky, Tunnie is busy on Saturday in Nots, and he's my bitch all day on Sunday... ;D

never done wishbones before, far, far! beyond my skills. So its best done at your local place!
However £90 a side is steep, not sure what they are normally. I am sure we can get you some on Trade Club?
-
They are not on trade club......they cost 55 quid a pair and take 30-40 mins per side to fit (if it goes well).
Seem to recall that Groses trade parts service (in Northampton) sell the pattern wishbones.

So the rest is mark-up & labour. Not too serious I guess - especially considering the "if it goes well" comment - it wouldn't if I started pulling the wheels off myself... :o ::)

125 quid is a lot of mark up!

Agreed, 100ish quid per hour is extortionate. Even the most expsive garage I have had work done at was £60/per hour, many are less.....
Call me cynical but gold plated wishbones maybe.........?

Not TC item Tunnie. £50 + p&p should buy some reasonable pattern ones.
Ideally, see Whhels-InMotion afterwards for full geometry check, but as minimum, get it retracked...

I bought a set from www.buypartsby.co.uk for £50 and paid local garage £45 + Vat to fit - £180 no way!

Thanks - that was going to be my next question...
