On the way home from work I got the dreaded engine management light and limp home mode. Felt like I had a 1 litre engine with the amount of power I had. Stopped at the chippy, and it was fine for 2 minutes and then it did it again.
Got my paper clip at the ready, wish me luck....

Good luck mate.
FYI, new tech2 contact.... Dickens Vauxhall in Wrexham
mines booked in for gearbox update for £36.72!
Dunno if you ever got your keys sorted, if not may be worth a try.
-
Cheers mate. I'll keep that in mind for when I want to get the key done (not done it yet)
Right. My fault codes.....
135 - Check engine lamp - low voltage
89 - Oxygen sensor heater - low voltage
91 - Oxygen sensor heater - high voltage
19 - RPM signal (crankshaft sensor) - incorrect signal
74 - Air flow sensor - high voltage
16 - Knock sensor 1 - no change in voltage
The first 4 can be ignored I think, the lambda sensor heater has been throwing up a fault since I had the car.
I am concerned about the knock sensor and the air flow sensor though. I can't see any shorts in the wire. Do these two sensors share a loom at any point? Where is the knock sensor?
-
Lot of faults, nothing sounds major.
Battery is running at right voltage isn't it?
Reckon the knock sensors causing the limp mode, used any different petrol?
-
No, I always use Shell standard unleaded mate.
I haven't got a multimeter on me, but I'm not getting the alternator light coming on whilst the engine is running.
Any idea where the knock sensor is? A "no change in voltage" fault must mean it's disconnected mustn't it?
-
That many voltage / signal things sounds like a red herring to me, hence the battery idea.
Known a few batterys start going and cause funny things like this (with no alternator light).
-
The battery is only about 5 months old mate and I've not had any issues with charging etc before.
The only thing that is suspect, is the air flow sensor and knock sensor 1 are quite close to each other, so I though they might be in the same loom and shorting on something together.
-
That does point it away from that then.
Thats me out of ideas.
-
sorry cant help with ya problem, but i was wondering where your got the info regards bridging the pins and where you got the codes from etc.
without me spending a lot of time searching .
Is it possible for you to explain or give me the necassary links
mines a 98 elite 3-0cc
thanks jud

had the same problem a few months back, got new knock sensor from vauxhall for 46.50 , got local garage to fit it , now works fine.
my sensor melted because of heat sheld , they is 2 sensors on each side of engine.
-
check wiring to knock sensors, often damaged.
you have a 19 as well...
-
I though 19 was normal when the engine isn't running?
I played around with a few wires last night, couldn't see any split or broken ones though. Anyway, my playing seems to have done the trick and it's worked fine today during the 100+ miles I've done. Strange.

31 is normal with engine not running. 19 is a sign of a severely failing sensor...
-
But I didn't get a code 31, and my engine was off... :-/

Coz you got the 19 instead ;)
