Title: Steering slack and idler arm
Post by: sophos9 on 17 February 2007, 20:55:09
I had the steering idler arm changed which turned my strangely behaving 3.0 Elite into some that behaved really good... Then I got rid of the slack from the steering box which turned it from good to great!

I had about 1/2inch of movement either way in the steering before it felt like it was turning the wheels, now there is no play at all an all this sorted with a 17mm spanner and allen bit!

Cheers to Mark for dropping this one in, my car feels tighter than the brand new Astra I've had on hire for 8weeks  :y

Good to hear you've got your car sorted mate. It means there's hope for me and the appalling steering of my Omega  :y

Fingers crossed for you mate.... Seems like loads of people suffer from bad steering, would be good to get a check list of steering components together to help diagnose

Anyone fancy it?

Not yet mate.

I'm off work all week now so going to take the wheels off this afternoon and check for play.
