Ho hum, here we go again. '95 Elite 3.0, trying to remove alternator so I can change the RH knock sensor. Undone top and bottom bolts - isn't the top one a pain - but it's not moving at all. Can't see if there is anywhere else the alternator mounts to the side of the block, or anything else.
Access is, to put it mildly, slightly restrictive! I haven't undone the wires at the back, but I can't imagine that they alone would be holding the thing on. Tried hitting it with a rubber mallet, no joy! And I can't see any way of threading the new knock sensor cable around it...

IIRC it just sits snugly on the mounts - undo the bolts (which you have) and lever out with a hammer handle or similar.

Spot on Jason - solution was to eat 3 Shredded Wheat and hit it harder ;D
I'm a happy man as it's all back together and the engine light no longer illuminates!
Still couldn't see where the external temp sensor sits though - somewhere near the middle of the bumper?

Slightly to the left of centre (ns)you should see a black plastic bit about 4mm Dia poking down through the lower lip.

Found it! And fitted, cheers. Temperature reading is now a rather more believeable 9 degrees C instead of the 48-62 I was seeing before ;D
