since i bought my mv6 auto the steering has been really heavy. i've got a couple of other omegas and they have nice light steering. the pump is working and the fluid looks ok but it just makes the car feel heavy in comparison. is the steering meant to be like this on the mv6 or is summit up?

It may be a mechanical issue with a tired pump.
Also, the servotronic fitted to V6 has 3 assistance settings, its possible its been adjusted for some reason. Trouble is, Tech2 required to adjust assistance settings...

so if i replace the pump and that doesn't cure it the only answer is to take it to a main dealer?

will it definitely not be the box?

It could be a tired pump or as suggested it could have been altered.
V6 Omegas can have 3 different settings for how heavy the steering is, unfortunately these can only be changed with Tech2. Some members here have it, but your probably looking at going to a dealer.

Had a similar problem with mine and it was the pump. Managed to get a pump of Ebay for £30 delivered and this sorted the problem

Don't know much about this system, but on my old 2.5V6 CD a fuse went taking out the speed sensitive power steering, so whilst it still had power steering it was much heavier than normal. Fuse took out a few other things as well, so easily checked. But could be electrical....

which fuse would that be then. will the pump from a 2.0 be the same as the mv6 as i could change them over to test. sold my 2.5 v6 so down to just 2 again.
