As the author says Martin, it's just HIS opinion, but he does have a few valid points. I personally think Bose systems aren't bad but there is better out there. ::)

The car kits are mainly an amplifier - and use the standard speakers, the home sound systems use quite cheap speakers with no tweeters so I should hope that the car systems sound better as the speakers are better! (ie there ARE tweeters)

I have seen quite a few reviews and comments of Bose home sound stuff and generally it appears to be similar in sound quality to the Logitec type systems.

As for car usage I want an amp and then I will refit my Infinity components in the front doors.

I did have an ancient Pioneer car amp but I have lost it - now the internet exists I could probably get it working and see if it is any good. However I haven't seen it since we last moved.

They did have a one time a factory here in Sittingbourne, but i think they have moved to the Medway towns. I did a bit of delivery work for them about 10 years ago.

when i was doing the check strap repair last weekend i had a look at the speakers in the front doors, they are bose branded, on the back they have the GM part number and reference

Father in law and i have this discussioon, he claims that the best speakers he has come across are Quad electrostatic ones, they are about 4 foot square and do produce fantastic sound

For an older factory fit system, the bose fitted to Omega is actually quite good imho.  Manages to get a fuller, clearer sound, without over-bassing like the chav amps found in 'modified' corsas etc.

The speakers used in bose Omegas are different to standard Omega speakers...

Thought they were the same - so how do they differ?

I think they are 2ohm, rather than 4.  Whether is the headunit/amp combination or the speakers, the combined result is very good...
