.... without stripping the bloody thread off in the sump!!! >:(
Just dropped the oil, and popped a new filter on my nice Omega. Put the sump plug back in, tighten by hand, and go to nip up with ratchet. Don't get as far as nipping it up... just turns... and turns... and turns!! I now cannot remove the bolt, however hard I try.
So... off with the sump. Once I'd removed the million bolts that hold it on. Did it want to come off? Not in one bloody peice it didn't >:(
It may as well have been welded on there.
But anyhoo. It's off.
I'll look at it in the morning, but - anyone got a spare V6 sump? ;D
-
unlucky james, you aren't having that much luck at mo are you?
-
Think you did that on the veccy too :o ::) ;D
Nooo my oil doesnt need changing ;D
-
I changed the oil and filter on that less than 1000mls ago.
-
Helicoil time again? :o :(
Think you could my CTS bolt?
-
Also, when you tighten the sump plug up by hand, it bites very quickly. There is still a long way to go, and it fells as if your never going to get there. I'll bet you never stripped it, just gave up before it went all the way home.

Yup, so it's now approaching 3k, which is when I do an oil change :)
Re. it not being fully home - I have turned, and turned, and turned it. Turn it now in either direction, and it doesn't move in or out.
It's no biggie - don't forget I have my cattle-wagon to drive around in for another couple of weeks ;D

Ps - many thanks for the package, arrived safely :y

Should be..

I'd say get it off and get it helicoiled - same reason as the Vectra.
-
only problem with re-using this sump, the sump lip took a pasting getting it off..... it was solid..

When I last had it off (that brings back memories :-[), I couldn't get hold of a gasket, so I super-glued it. ::)

i know just how you feel, last year i decided to change my front discs on my mondeo- 1 came off easily by the other would not budge.
i went out and bought a puller which promptly shattered the disc leaving a "star" in the middle. no end of pulling and bashing released it so i had to get it lifted to a local garage to get it gassed off.
the moral of my tale was a light steer wobble at braking, a quick 15 minute job, £125 later i was not amused!
hope you have better luck mate. ;)

Have you still not got a low range torque wrench :y
The 10Nm required for the torx style sump plugs is bugger all but, coz it has a rubber washer its not going anywhere.
