My Omega has been making worrying noises from the front brakes for the last couple of days....today its been getting worse.....either squeaking loudly or grinding noises and even vibration felt through the steering wheel. Tho occasionaly they behave and are quiet.
I dont have the check light on for the pads.
Ive had a quick look at them just now.....didnt take them off so i carnt comment on the inner pads as i carnt see them.....outside ones still have some friction material....and as the check light isnt on....i guess theres enough left.....however the discs do have quite a big lip....so im guessing the the lip is hitting the backing plate on the pads.
Carnt grumble as the pads have done nearly 30k and the discs nearly 90k
So its new pads and discs time.......question is should i go with vx parts @ £66+vat TC or are there better/cheaper options?
Mate of mine mentioned a motor factors thats doing a deal at the mo......buy the discs and get the pads free.....dunno the make tho until i phone them on Monday to find out.....he thought the discs would be about £50 from them.
Any makes to avoid.....and ones that are good? or should i just go with vx?
Cheers

VX do a kit, which comes sealed in a box, with 2x discs 4x pads,, is this what you've been offered fro £66 +vat? If so go for it! They are megga quality! 8-) You'll also need new brake wires, if you particularly care about them, I don't, tied mine up neatly, passed MOT today, they are not a fail...

Same.
Thats what I put on my 2.2 and my dads.... good stuff and not a bad price.
The discs on mine looked original, so 95k miles can't complain.
Price is now around £75 + vat on TC for disc and pad set, still worth it :y

The pattern parts on the front of mine are utter crap. Don't make the same mistake, stick to GM.
Sensor is about £7 on TC ;)

I once made that mistake with my Senator using pattern discs form an international brakes company ::) .They ran out of true within 3/4000 miles, needless to say they weren't interested.
