Title: Heated mirrors
Post by: AndersH on 09 March 2007, 16:05:51
I don't seem to have heated mirrors on my GLS, are they easily transplantable? if so what do I need, is it just glass and a switch or do I need wiring also?
Thanks,
Andy

mine has a logo on the door mirror glass that suggests mine has heated mirrors (mine's a GLS too) but i dont have a specific switch for them and with my limited knowledge of my car thanks to lack of books with it, i would have first assumed the heated rear window button also does the mirrors

if it doesnt its no loss to me, i never had heated mirrors on any other cars i had!

mirror work off the HRW switch and yes there is a little symbol on then to indicate they are heated

Should work off the heated rear screen switch, not to sure if low spec models have them, they are a god send in the winter.

Mine don't have the symbol and they don't seem to get hot...
I thought I'd seen a picture of a light that comes on to show they are heating on the mirror adjustment buttons - not sure where I saw that or perhaps that's just pre-facelift?

You won't feel heat off them probably.

Early omegas had the LED (pre 98)

My estate has a symbol on the offside mirror. Have a replacement mirror and it does not have the said symbol but is heated. The mirrors do not get very hot and come on with the heated rear window. Switches off after 15 mins.

Fuse 11 (10A) feeds the heated mirrors. Check this first. :y

the other way of checking would be to (carefully) unclip the mirror glass from the housing, if heated it will have two wires going to the back of it to supply power ... you could then even switch on the HRW and test for presence of voltage across these two wires ...
