I bought a 99 Elite Estate on Friday and the fella I bought it off was very honest and told me that the hazard lights go off on there own when the alarm is set and the car has been standing. The car is now at Timbuks and has been standing since Friday night and Timbuk has confirmed that the hazard lights do flash every now and again and this morning the battery is flat which we are putting down to the hazard lights. So the question is what is causing the problem.

Cheers Jaime
Could it not be the sounder back up battery?

Not sure if the hazard warning lights flash when the power sounder is activated. Can you remember if the car horn was working, Pete? If not, then Jaime's theory sounds good.

Thats something I didn't try Steve but will ask Doug to have a go when he gets home :y

I suspect the alarm horn and the power sounder have been disconnected...

Nope, the main battery should power the horns until it goes dead, that's when the back up battery comes in, only when the main power fails, either by charge running down or by disconnection (tampering).

So Jaime, there are three horns including the power sounder?

Mine did the same ONLY when the main battery was almost dead. Hazards just about flashed but no sound. Also the anti theft alarm system indicator button was flashing. "Well thats how the manual describes it". Hope this is of some help.
