Title: Key issue
Post by: Paulus on 14 March 2007, 11:03:55
What do I do?
My car has previously had either the ignition barrel replaced, or all the exterior locks replaced. The keys that I have only work in the ignition. Therefore, if the battery dies in the remote, I can't get in because the keys don't work in any of the locks.

Do I:
a) replace the ignition barrel and get the key matched to the other locks or,
b) replace the door/boot locks and get them matched to the ignition key?

Any suggestions?

Paul.

Mine works in the boot, and there are several ways to get in.  If doors and boot on the same key, then ideally you should change the ignition barrel, but not sure how easy it is to order a specific key code.  May be easier to get a full set off of a donor car.  Either way you need to swap out the immobiliser chips or you will need Tech2 to align the keys.
