Fellow Omega owners,
Does or has anybody owned an Omega with the 2.2 diesel engine in. If so what did you think of it regarding performance, economy etc. They don't seem to have much BHP listed but what are they like to drive and own.

BHP is around 120 ish i think.
Reliable engines, fairly bullet proof. Give good mpg, 30 ish on town runs up to 50 on a run. Not the most refined engine in the world from accounts....

Only thing i know about them is.....they all have that silly 3rd pedal! ;D

Thats an extra.... 'Driver Involvement Pack' ;)

Yup, no auto option on 2.2DTi

No traction control either which completes the Driver Involvement Pack.

Hi,
I do have one, and I am satisfied. Sure, before I owned a 1.5l Dewoo Nexia and probably this can influence my opines.
But, look to the facts:
- the consumption is 7 liters/ 100 km max. outside the city, with AC on and running at an speed of 140 km/h (at this speed the tahometer gauge is at 3000 rot/min)
- the consumption is 9 liters/ 100 km in urban traffic (I do not have a Board computer to indicate this).
I like this engine, plenty of torque even on idle, 270 NM at only 1800 rot, and a power of 120 hp at 4000 rpm. The turbo start to operate in my case at 2200 rot. :y

Yes, its pre the over blown narrow power delivery CDTi modern lumps which need 6 speeds to keep them on the boil...
Remember, torque is king....and this has max torque at a lazy of 280Nm between 1600-2500rpm....i.e., its easy to drive....
As a result its easy to get more Bhp by shifting the torque up the rev range and raising the boost...
Remember that Bhp = (Torque x Revs)/ 5252....so move the torque up the revs and you get more bhp.....

I own a 2.2dti estate and i'm quite happy with the performance and fuel economy, (34mpg @ 100mph, on a private road of course). I believe it is the same engine as Saab use. : :y
