Just had an argument with a Vx parts bloke. I went in a few weeks ago and enquired about replacement lenses for my 96 meega, was quoted 30 odd quid, thought great i'll come back after the exercise and buy them (it wasnt a quote for the headlight covers either). I wish I had gotten the part number as today I spoke to another chap on the parts desk with '15 years vx experience' who says that they have never done replacement headlight lenses, just the head unit.
I of course explained the earlier quote and was told that I must have dreamt it. Cheeky c@%t! Of course with sleep deprivation getting the better of me I lost my rag. I must have intimidated him by the look on his face so I decided to leave before they jumped me and chucked me out. :-[
Is he correct or talking b@llox just trying to scam me out of more money? :-/

Not aware of just lenses being available.
But best thing for your 96 model is to get some post 98 clear 'projectors' on it, with some plus 50 bulbs....
-
Wonder if they misunderstood you, and quoted for lens protectors, which are clear and cover and protect the headlamp glass..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(
-
Protective covers are part numbers 91132423 & 91126414... just incase you can cross reference the parts you'd got on order!!
-
Item number: 330100688362 E-bay LH only, there are others too!
-
Or even a pair, Item number: 140099286151 remind me, are yours ribbed or clear!!
-
Ribbed... I can confirm it wasnt for the lens protectors. But I am so incensed by that guys attitude I never want to go back.
I have been looking on ebay for some projectors and have a few bids ongoing, will keep you updated.
Btw, how easy is it to retro fit headlight washers? Saw these on ebay

Ensure they are UK spec headlight - many ebay sellers are flogging Canadian or euro ones - these will obviously fail any MOT test.

, will keep you updated.

You will need the pump and a new washer bottle (bigger, and with moulding for pump), and obviously associated relays and tubing...
-
Washers are like rocking horse sh1te, worth buying just to leave on your mantle piece, just to say you got some, they'll be on Cash In The Attic in about 5 years time ;D ;D ;D Even the little front washer jets are £36 ish at VX, each!!! :o :o :o :o :o
To fit you would need holes in the trim below the headlamps, it's a seperate pump for them, the fuse & relay is in the fuse box by the battery... I'm sure someone else will be more descript than I..
As far as the guy at VX goes, wait for the dark nights to come, then whip him with an old FORD cambelt!!!!
"Another money saving tip from Dave C" ;)

ive got a behind bumper tank and pipes with both motors on and the relays, think ive also got the under headlight trims with the holes in somewhere if you want to fit them. but ive not actualy got the jets cos dave's already had them...
-
But there are some on e-bay, why not join the rocking horse club! ;D ;D ;D
