Post by: Boiler Man on 23 March 2007, 11:02:13

They quite down if I lock them down.

Any ideas for why they are doing this or how to stop it? :y

I've noticed this too. Right where your ear can pick it up  >:(

I remember seeing something about fixing it on here. I'll have a rummage. In the meanwhile maybe soneone will come along who's fixed it.

Yes....the best solution is to pop the door card off and place a bit of sticky back draught excluder to the door metal work where the rod to the button passes

Cheers for that :y

When you say pop the door card off, do you mean the whole interior door panel?

If so, Is it a big job. lots of screws and wire etc?

Not done that yet on this model. :-/

Yea, its the interior card - easy enough - in fact I've found it easier on this car than any other.  Think theres a guide somewhere that talks about the removal at some point.  Only trouble I had was getting my hand inside to reconnect the courtesy light at the bottom as the lead was short and unplugged itself during removal.

Think there are screws all around the edge, behind the handle and the ashtray, at least this was the case on the rear drivers side door.

Facelift door has a hidden screw. I think there is a guide in Maintenence Guides for door card removal.

If it's just the door lock pin in it's holder on the top of the card, there is a tiny piece of "Fuzzy Felt" it it, that gets compressed...  remove the pin by prizing off the red insert, the pin will lift off, on the rear is a groove withe the afore mentioned in it, pull it out, puff it up, refit..  seriuosly that's all I had to do to stop my annoying rattle, failing that, Marks got the best idea..

I had them.  Bloody annoying  >:(

Fixed by replacing them with a set of aluminium ones like these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ALUMINIUM-DOOR-PINS-MERIVA-CAVALIER-MK3-TIGRA-A-SIGNUM_W0QQitemZ160099388613QQcategoryZ10404QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Now they don't rattle anymore and look good too.  :y

There is a red square in your door pins that just pops off with the help of a small blade, the new ones attach with allen screws.  Easier than removing door cards imho.  I did have to drill the core a little more on mine to make the sit at the right height, but I'm sure you can do the same if you need to.  :)

Hi Boiler Man,
glad to know that others have this problem. Next weekend I will follow "Marks DTM Calib" advice. It is very easy to remove the interior door panel.

I wondered why the drivers door lock on mine is shorter than the others....maybe the previous owner had the same prob....and its been 'fixed' somehow  :-/
