Title: Still Leaking
Post by: razzo on 28 March 2007, 19:25:10
Hi all
have a coolant leak seems at the back of the engine. Have done coolant bridge seals, oil cooler sorted & replaced hbv. Barge is now starting to missfire but only now & then, usually pulling from start or more noticeable under hard acceleration/kickdown. Seems ok when engine is not up to running temp. Leak is down passenger side of the block to oil filter area. Wondered if anyone had any pix or diagrams of the plumbing or advice on what is the causing it, slowly driving me mad

thanks all :-[Steve :-[

Poss leak is going into DIS causing the misfires...?

Misfire could well be due to coolant on the dis or a corroded dis from the earlier leak (unbolt it and check base for rust / splitting )
If its still leaking you will have to remove the scuttle again and have a good look around once it is fully hot.

Sounds familiar.

Mine had several leaks , all of which showed similar tell tales in terms of where the water was going, and appearing to come from...

1) Oil cooler seals.

2) HBV Hoses, rather than HBV itself...  (it would seem best to replace HBV AND all the connecting hoses to be sure...

3) Coolant V-Bridge seals etc.

4) Thermostat housing and/or O'ring seals on Coolant transfer pipe from stat housing  , although at the front, the coolant has a tendency to run back along the block before dropping down at the rear.

Good luck......   No's 1 and 4 are bitches....
