Title: radiator cooling fans ON at startup, is this right
Post by: wakeyomega on 13 April 2007, 19:07:35
Hi again
Now I've got immersed in the forum, I'm starting to learn much more about how my car works, which is great, however I'm also starting to get the mechanical version of hypochondria!

A quick question. I read a thread the other day saying that the cooling fans should switch in when the temp is around 95 C and off again around 90 C. I've noticed that the 3 fans on my radiator startup within 4 seconds of starting the engine, even from cold. However, if I turn climate control off, they do not start up straight away.

Is it normal for the fans to start straight away when climate control is on? Does anyone else of an elite with Climate control who could observe and fedback please?

Thanks Pat

AFAIK 2 of the fans usually run when climate is running, the third fan is a 2 stage fan used only for cooling & will kick in around 93-95 degrees. Sounds like all is ok mate

And the windage created from the two external fans will cause the internla fan to rotate to....
