I intend on getting some for mine aswell, and then replacing the autobox with an AR35 for a bit of extra strength :)

they do have an effect, but like anything they work better if they are coupled with a few other mods.

An enlarged throttle body and a 4 bar adjustable fuel pressure reg that had been set up correctly, decats and a mildly sporty stainless system and a pipercross viper induction kit created 202bhp out of a FWD V6, once the chip had gone it then it was 210bhp.

the biggest cost was more time to set it all up, i reckon about £300 all in before we got to the chip and that included a cambelt kit

how would an AR25 cope with that?

Its a cam change......not a massive torque increase but the existing torque peek moved further up the revs to give more bhp (BHP=((Torque x Revs)/5252) so should be ok.....

Well just got back from a quick splat to Epsom downs and back, and i have to report that the cams do make a huge differance to the " driveability " of the car. First of all the car is more responsive to the throttle, and pulls more cleanly right through the rev range up to about 6,500 rpm. The engine also sounds as though it has lost it's wheezzze noise and has more of purpusfull suck if you know what i mean. The cars work was done by a good pal of mine who is a platinum std vx mechanic and earned every penny of the stupid money he asked for, so a big up to you Alan 'blakey' Kent. Whilst he was doing the swap i stripped the throttle body off of the plenium and cleaned the butterflys and internals, i was supprised how bad they were considering how often i service the car. The breathers were removed and i cleaned them along with the pipe that goes down to the breather box and refitted to the plenium, with all new o rings. So i am no longer a breather virgin anymore. We also fitted a gas flowed 3.0ltr inlet manifold and 3.0 injectors along with a 4 bar fuel pressure regulator. A new gen vx cam belt kit was fitted, aux poly belt as well and a new water pump while the front was stripped out. All new inlet to plenium o rings and cam cover gaskets  replaced of course. The car is currently running with forte coolant flush in the system at the moment and will be flushed out over the next few days and filled with vx red antifreez. Finally the header  tank was replaced as it had started to crack around the neck. Here are a few pics of the work As it happened.i reccomend the mod to anybody. Regards

the total cost i have spent on this cam swop is £460  but that does include the purchase of the 3.0 for the cams.

car £200
cam belt kit and all seals and o rings, 4 bar regulator
gas flowed inlet manifold  £260   total. £460.

 Worth every penny.

Hi paul if you do this to your v6 dont skimp on seals and all the silly bits that have to be changed as it will only detract from a truly great up grade to an already awsome motor.I may have gone slightly over the top with some seals or o rings but dont regret it.The sound of the motor growling into life is a joy to behold.

Engine has now been flushed to remove all the cooling system flush and has been run and flushed 10 times before i was happy to put 5.5 ltrs of fresh red vx coolant in. Temp now steady at 92/93 degrees[approx].
 :) :)

If I ever get round to changing the (noisy) lifters, then I think I'll have to definately consider this mod, providing funds allow.
Well done mate, glad it was worth it  :y
