..even before I start.
Autovaux swore the 2 seals, 2 bolts (as they are bigger on the new stat) and some peice of pipe would be here today..
They're not, and won't be because the idiots sent it via royal mail 1st class recorded, rather than a guaranteed next day - they've really fu**ed me off on this one, so thats the end of business between us..
Anyway - can I just get 2 m8x30 bolts myself and bung them in? Also, I've got the seal on the stat, + one more that I need (Could be one of the two I've ordered (making 3))..
Is it doable with the bits I've got? I really wanted to at least do something this weekend, since I have a pass from the war office..

I would say yes.....
But, the bolts you need have to have a small head or be of the socket head type so as to clear stat housing and they need sealent on the threads becasue the stat bolts go through into a water way.
Do you have a new stat housing or are you re-using the old one....
At least with it being sent by royal mail you have a reasonable chance of the parts arriving tomorrow am....

This might make things easier:

I've got
1x 9
1x 10
1x 13
I am missing:
1x 13 (but I'm hoping at least one of the original 2 will be ok)
1x 12 (but I'm hoping I don't actually need this bit)
2x 11 (but I'm hoping I can just get 2 bolts the same size here from homebase or something)..

I might have a crack at it then, if I can get the right bolts - have listed what I do have above ^ ^
Well the problem is I arranged it to be delivered to work, as I was going to be here today to sign for them, not tomorrow though :(

You will rpobably egt away with 1 off sealing ring....if your buying a bridge pipe then it comes with two sealing rings already fitted anyway!
The bolts will be the difficult bits to get due to the above mentioned problem....

Any specific sealant you can recommend that I can get hold of easily Mark?
Cheers again :)

Aaaargh
just fallen into the same pitfall.......ither of you guys got a part number for the new bolts to hold stat in and also the seals for coolant bridge?
thats items 11 and 13 in above diagram :)
-
That's for the V6 (all models):
Note - 'Range' means 'up to engine number' and 'from engine number'

Bridge pipe is less than a tenner......including the seals and yes, the seals can be bought seperatley...
-
thanks guys - ive now resolved the coolant bridge seal problem :y
just unsure of those m8 bolts that go into cylinder via thermostat housing :-/ i can see now the lip on my new housing is not as thick hence the bolt is more exposed and into that waterway. I presume there will still be enough threaded to grip and secure...
Guess i will go with the sealant on the bolts and "patch it up" as i really dot fancy another trip to my farce of a dealer

I've just put the stat back in using 2x M8x25 bolts I bought in homebase, its all working - however I URGENTLY need the torque setting (its out there in bits as I type this!) for the Stat to the Block - anyone?
BTW: The barsteward bolt is really easy with a 10mm ratchet spanner :D

This si from TIS

Hope the Homebase bolts will be OK with this torque... :-?
-
so how did those homebase bolts go?
Am i right in thinking then that vauxhall dealer will be able to supply bolts for the new theremostat housing that are appropriate length... :-/

Hiya,
Bolts went in fine and torqued up ok too - its only 20nm, so not too bad really - I used sealant on the bolt threads, all around the flange and on the transfer pipe inside where it pushes into the stat.
Finally finished it all off this morning and its behaving as it should.. Took me at least an hour of messing about to get that bolt back in again - if I ever do that again I'll be moving the power steering thingy first.
Thanks to everyone for all the help, another job done and very happy :) Much appreciated..
Chris.

And yeah, they will have em - get them to open up the page with the stat on on epc (as above in my pic in this post) and get them to get them for you - I ordered them, just didn't arrive in time - M8x30 is the size..

Glad its all sorted - vx got me the bolts for new thermostat.
For anyone that may do the job in future the bolts are part number 11093601 but do take your credit card as they weigh in at a hefty 24p each and you need 2 !!!!
