Hello all from Canada.
I just recieved and invitation from Hotel21 to share with you my project:
For those that do not know, for the 2001 model year Opel was planning to build a V8 version of the Omega powered by a detuned version of the LS1 found in the Corvette and a few other vehicles. But unfortunately in GM’s infinite wisdom, they cancelled the car at the very last minute for reasons that remain unknown. It was well past the concept stages and was so close to production that GM already have service manuals out for it and some brief data is still available on the car on GM Techline in Europe.
Anyways, a few of the pre-production prototype parts were saved and I got a hold of some of them and will begin converting my Catera to an LS1 with a T56 6-speed.
Here is a scan from the service manual showing most of these parts.

WOW!
Good luck with the project :y
Keep us informed how it goes :D
-
Welcome, Warez. Thanks for posting. :y
No doubt there will be a few others like me with just a wee bit of the green eyed monster inside them..... ;D
Hope all goes well with the build. ;)

What great project Warez, 8-) keep us informed how it goes, and welcome to the forum :y

I mus admit that I past the post a few time without opening it as i was saying to myself here goes another freshmen that 'discovered' a picture of the Omega V8 and wants to tell us all about it... ;D
How wrong was I! :-/
It's an amazing project and you are very lucky to have found all those bits. Please post more pictures as the project progresses...
:y :y :y

wow real V8 Parts, thats on hell of a Project good luck :y :y :y

Would this project work on a right hand drive car, the reason I ask is that you pointed out that the left side manifold is squished to fit the steering box, so does this mean that it will only fit a left hand drive car
Does anyone remember the thread for the V8.com omega which I started back in March if not follow the link;

WOW does not cover it!! :o :o
Very best of luck.... i have been dreaming about slotting a 6.0 V8 in the Omega for a long time now :)

Correct, you would not be able to use these manofolds on a RHD car. Opel had not plans to bring this car to the UK.

Speaking of LHD and RHD cars, would anyone have some good shots of the engine bay of a RHD Omega. I'd be interested in seeing what exactly they switched around. I can't find anything good on google.

Interesting, it looks like they only switched the brake booster/master cylinder.
Does anyone know if the clutch pedal slave cylinder and pedal assembly (clutch, brake, cable op. accel)
was indentical to those on the LHD cars?
I will eventually need to have these parts shipped from Europe as the Catera only came with an automatic.

What a fantastic project. Looking forward to when you have finished and posted some more pictures. Welcome to the forum and enjoy your engineering challenge. :y
