What is the best engine for the omega do you think?
Is it the 2.0 16v, 2.2 16v, 2.5/2.6/3.0/3.2 v6 (be specific) , the 2.5 td or the 2.2 dti?
If you answer the diesel , do they chuck out black smoke alot? (some cars do and some like the mondeo tdci dont)
Matt :)

A chipped 3.0 V6 in sports mode, always puts a big grin on my face :y
-
I've a 2.5 - which is great, but I think I'd rather have the 3.0. Much the same MPG but a bit more go!
-
Guess who voted for the 2.6.... :-[ ;D
-
Incidentally, this post is in the wrong section... no doubt it will soon be transferred to General Chat. ;)
-
Moved to general chat, as Omega Help section is more for problems with the car. :)
As to best engine, depends what you want from it...
The diesels are going to be good if you do lots of long motorway journeys, 3.0/3.2 if you want the effortless grunt, or the 2.5/2.6 for a good combination of performance and economy...

When i bought my 2,5 the Crank sensor was playing up, not to much for me to notice, as i didnt boot the hell out of it on the test drive, but now i have changed the Sensor the speed is amaizing it pulls in third gear as if i could go up to 15,000 rpm, and as for the top speed a Dream
so for me its the 2,5 :y
-
For the record, there as also an early 2.0 8V, not that anyone will actually vote for it...
-
I have myself voted for the 3.2 only as i see the more cubes the better. Are the 3.2 alot faster than the 3.0?
:)

I have no idea >:( I never had either :(
;D

I personnaly think the 3.2 would is best suited as a large car, as the omega needs all the power/displacement it can get. :y
-
Ive been in a 3.0 , seemed quick , but not amazingly quiocker than the 2.5 , but was told the 2.5 was geared for acceleration more than the 3.0 so that might explain why.
Matt :y
-
3.0 has slightly more acceleration and top speed than 2.5. i personally dont think i will urgently have to drive at 150 mph. but every day save 2-3 mpg.
-
3.0 and 3.2 are similar performance, as are the 2.5 and 2.6
2.5/2.6 lower geared, so similar 0-60, but the larger engines are so much more responsive at motorway speeds...
-
:(Gutted. I thought that when i bought my manual Mv6 3.0 it would accelerate noticably quicker.
My 2.5 licks along well enough but is lacking a little bottom end ie exiting roundabouts. Once it's woken up it's off like a scalded cat.
Does the 3.0 really not give much more mid range grunt? :o

Not happy >:( wheres the 2.0 8 valve vote?????? am i the black sheep of the family? :'( :'( :'(
-
Anything with twin turbos. Only exception is a 3.0L turbo Diesel, those go quite well.

Voted for 3,2, but still driving this 2,6... Someday I hope to have 3,2
-
I've had both a 3.0 and 3.2 - noticed no difference in performance 8-)
-
i can only vote for this as it's the only meega i've driven.i would describe mine in a feline way,it can purr like a kitten or growl like a tiger.v6 is the way to go.think i need a drink now.
