Gents and Ladies,
My Omega has run at about 95 deg C for ages now, was a little disturbed when, at new year in very cold weather ( -2), the guage went very high and red warning light came on whilst towing my 1000kg caravan.... Not normal!
Flushed it all out today and new waterpump yesterday.... still running at similar temerature... heaters red hot, cooling fans both kicking in as they should, hoping all OK now... Please see picture below:::: DOES YOURS RUN THIS HOT????

Temp looks normal to me with climate set to cold. :)

Mine runs between the 90 and 92 but sit in traffic and it soon rises until the fans kick in.

Yeah! Good point, climate on that piccy is set to LO but A/C is OFF... this is after a good run on a day with ambient temp of 13.5 deg C...
It had used to run cooler, I think!!!
Another point, just wondering if the auto box fluid is causing the overheating when towing... changing it very soon anyway....
Still any suggestions, coments. Greatly appreciated..

Yep mines the same. Fan kicks in at around 95 temp creeps up to around 98 when it drops to under 95 fan cuts out. If i run climate with a/c fans doesn't climb above 90

Ok, turn the climate back on for 2 reasons.
1. Running without the aircon on is not a good idea, as you will often find that when it gets really warm and you really want it, it won't work as well as it should.
The system is designed to run all the time. Extended periods of non use mean seals dry out and gas leaks.
2. Running the climate means the climate fans will then work, giving additional cooling to the radiator. :)
Try it and see what happens.

climate has a/c to maintain the temp you set. The ecu will ensure that the requested temp is maintained, whether a/c on or off.
a/c in winter is a great demister ;)

A/C doesn't have to be cold. You can have hot A/C too - it's just the moisture that's been removed.

It'll be trying all day if you're asking it to chill the car below than the ambient temp and the A/C is turned to ECO.

you know what i mean.... ...the ecu may be clever, but obviously cant put a shine on a turd.

Temp looks fine to me as well...should only go up slightly if in traffic with climate on but fans will pull it back..I was once told to only get worried when went beyond 100 as a pressuized system does jump around a bit...only panic if "red light " comes on!!!

Red Light!!! That's happened, when towing in -2 deg C ambient temp.... Want to make sure OK for summer towing over Bodmin etc

Switch to "auto" and set the temp for you. Normally 20-21.
Let it run like this for a week and tell us what the temp gauge does.
Oh, and as a test, with auto on, turn the gauge down to "Lo". It should freeze your ****s off! ;)

OK, I will, and yes aircon is a ballcock chiller on LO, especially when I wear my mini skirt ;D ;D ;D ;D

if your concerened about towing and overheating fit a seperate oil cooler very easy to do

Agreed an extra cooler wouldn't go amiss, got one sitting in my shed doing nowt! My concern is that, it's not happened before, have towed the same van and set up for several years.... I'm seriously wondering if it's a gearbox fluid issue... We'll soon see, going to replenish it soon...

Ive been watching my gauge since reading your post and it fluctuates between 85 and 90 on the gauge. Did read in the owners handbook that temps reaching 100 occasionally were normal, but your red light on dash scenario not ideal tho...

Admitted, it's only when towing, NEVER at any other time, did the cambelt and a new water pump last weekend too, flushed it all through... Shall have to take the van for a drag.... AFTER DARK !!! OK BOYS !!!!!
