Water Leak
Hi all advice required if possible.
As mentioned in earlier post about suspect HBV on V6 I am still trying to find water leak. I am getting drips from both sides of rear of engine like its being sprayed out under pressure then running down gearbox and dripping. Problem is I cannot find where its comming from. With engine running and water dripping i can hold HBV in hand and its totally dry so any other idea as Haynes Manual really gives lots of detail into cooling system. Only other pipe I can feel is from bottom of HBV which connects under plenum somewhere but again this feels dry.
Thanks in advance Brian

If you are 100% its not the bypass valve (it probably is, though....) then try and check out the remaining pipework at the rear of the engine. A hose could have a pinhole or a weep from a hoseclip.
heres a piccy of the rear of the engine. Not the greatest, grant you, but will allow you to suss out whats what?

Thanks Hotel21
I see what you mean its got to be either valve or longer pipe which goes under plenum. What does this pipe connect to but been a few weeks since plenum was off when I looked for leak first time. Just order and change both as precaution I suppose. Any idea if HBV is sold with Trade Card discount or full price at Vauxhall.
Thanks Brian

Pretty sure HBV NOT TC, mine was about £38 from VX... There looked to be nothing wrong with mine, not even a water mark in sight, the diaphragm breaks down in them and seeps...........

Dont wait any longer to get this sorted! The water will ruin your dis pack eventually and thats more money than the hbv.

HBV from Autovaux in Wakefield £19 + VAT (excl postage)

as said - next will be dis pack as it sits directly below and is a swine to change...
Best of luck and any problems fitting come back and let us know :y

Well HBV now changed still dont think it was leaking but time will tell.
As it looked dry removed Plenum and inlet bridge to check for any other signs of coolent staining.
Dis Pack and all visable areas clean and dry, only stains visable are underneath on sides of gearbox.
At this stage did not want to remove coolent bridge but suspect leak might be below it somewhere any body had leak from similar area was wondering whats below there. I presume thermastat and connection from heater but cannot find any pictures. All back together now as need to use car will check under car after its had a run and dried off water spillage.

The great big stainless steel coolant pipe enters the engine block just above the gearbox. That has an O-ring seal. Someone had the rubber pipe that comes off it split.
You need to get under the car and hug the gearbox and you will be able to feel the coolant pipe and hoses.

Here's a pic of the pipe with the gearbox removed. It has a Y on it that doesn't show in the picture but is just an inch or two from the flange.
