Title: Tech2 needed!
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 26 April 2007, 18:36:36
Jaime... this is cheeky, but - are you around this evening? I've changed selector switch, still in limp mode. Going mad with it now.. do you think a Tech2 would be worthwhile? If so, I could pop over, and bring Mark's aircon condensor....

Yes, no probs.  If I'm scoffing tea, you'll have to wait ;D

Excellent... presume I can just turn up when I get there, like a bad penny?

If so, I'll leave in about half hour, when I've tidied up

Just hope to god Tech2 finds something.. I really don't want to drive to brackley and back in limp mode for nothing!!!!!!

just turn up.

I suspect, either selector is rubbish or the box is fubar'd.  Stripping autoboxes is beyond us....

I wouldn't have thought stripping it would be a problem, it's the putting it back together ;D

Stripping the box is no problem and putting the box back together is no problem its the bits left over which are the problem ::)

OK, JamesV6CDX has a 62 Power Control Relay Low error.  Apparently, this can be caused by solenoid issues.  I've sent him off recommending atf change. If that doesn't cure, I suspect, as said earlier, box is fubar. Most boxes are either fixed by fluid change, or are not worth fixing ;).  I think the selector switch still needs a bit more work, though do not think that is his problem.

Still, reprogrammed the MID for a 3.0l auto, and put a later software on the climate, which will hopefully improve that...

I don't suppose that this is just a relay that controls power to the gearbox?

Or is it not that logically named?

I would have thought the solenoids would be reasonably accessible from under the sump pan (never looked inside one of these boxes though so pinch of salt required as usual!) so, in the process of changing the fluid it might be worth taking each one out and inspecting it just to ensure there are no loose wires or other obvious damage.

The fault descriptions on Tech2 are shortened....its actualy

Monitor relay, current supply for - Short circuit to ground voltage solenoid valves in TCM

The monitor relay is a drive module in the gearbox ecu.....so clearly something is connected to 0v (chassis) that shouldn't be...ie the cable going to the gearbox...

I have already PM'd him with info..
