Title: SQUEAK SQUEAK UNDER BONNET

Got a squeak coming from the multi belt in engine compartment  >:( It seems to go after a few miles but is irritating. does the belt need tightening or replacing and either way is it a big job :question

First you must confirm that the noise is due to the aux belt and not one of the cambelt rollers or tensioner.
Remove the aux belt and run briefly to see if nois has gone, if it has then check the aux tensioner and alternator bearings for play or roughness, these are the most likely culprits, the water pump and aircon can also suffer bearing failure but less likely.

If noise is still present with aux belt removed then it is likely that the cambelt tensioner bearings have failed....do not use the car untill you get it checked and replace the tensioner, idlers and belr.

It must be aux belt related as the 2.0DTi has a timing chain.... ;)
