My 1996 2.5 petrol estate has passed its MOT today after being off road for nearly 3 years. If it were not for this forum this would never have happened. Big thanks to the guys that done the How to's for brake replacment and breather cleaning, better than the Haynes I have, tossed it and used the printouts from this forum. Everything I needed to know was found here all questions were answered, I just want you all to know that your time in answering my questions has directly helped me get this machine back on the road where she belongs.
Thanks to all.
PS. If this could be made sticky for a week or so to let all read it and know my gratitude.

Good. Thats what the forum is all about.

Glad you have your car running again, and hopefully for minimal cost as well :y

Good news :y
It's good to get feed back as well.

Let me just give a quick run down on what was needed on the car that you guys helped with.
1. All brake components replaced
2. From cat back entire exhaust
3. Breather system cleared with some new parts installed
4. All new tyres
5. Dash removed and new illumination bulbs installed
6. Plunum chamber for cabin heater filled with 2 gallons of water, after reading about this and checking for my own fishtank, drain cleared!
7. oil and filter changed.
Got the car for 190 quid and spent, well more than that on parts, but she is running sweet and the emissions results (I was really worried about these) were excellent 104k on the clock, good for another 104!

Well done for getting it back on the road :) :)
All this could be undone !!!!!!!
Must be due [or nearly] for a cam belt, tensioner, etc & water pump to be done while its stripped
down
Should be done: 40K or 4 years
Very expensive if fails :'( :'( :'(

That was done by previous owner just before she was laid up. Timing belt is unworn and as new.

Usually find the tensioner pulleys are the problem not the belt, they will still have been under tension even when laid up. But well done on all your hard work, and a great result :y

Either way....it only has 1 years life left in it.....

We want you to keep your Omega so that you have a good reason to stay a memeber here... :y

Quite right, I have had it a year and done 0 miles, hoping that the brakes were up to scratch from driveway testing, but now that all the safety critical mot items are working I can turn my attention to other things on it that I would like to be working again.
