I might have asked this before; my 2.2 sometimes has this rough running around 2,000 rpm at low speeds when engine is cold , almost feels like the whole car is vibrating as if going over rumble strips, at tick over it's fine and when engine has warmed up all is ok at 2,000 rpm etc . Tried several things to cure it , but just when I think I've sorted it, it bites me on the bum again several days later. Anyone else had this with their 2.2?

iv'e just checked autodata and the only listed known for your engine is the wiring harness onto the ecu coolant temp sensor , however iv'e rarely seen it happen as i work on these engines quite often , apparently the connection causes an increase in resistance which doesn't provide proper enrichment for cold starting .
hope it helps

It's a Diesel... don't have much experience with Omega oil-burners... someone else might know.

It's not a diesel, it's a petrol.

Thinking about it, the mixture may be running a little weak.
Have you tried changing the fuel filter? They're only about a tenner.

Mine was similar just after i bought it. Have a look to see if the engine oil is fouling the spark plugs, i.e. getting past the rocker cover gasket and sitting around the plugs. Mine also came up with an engine management light every now and again which put the car into limp home mode.
Eventually cured my prob with cleaning out the oil around plugs, replacing rocker cover gasket and cleaning out the throttle body/pipes.
Hope this helps. :y

My first check would be the plug area to.....pop the coil pack out and see if there is any contamination....including water dripping in from the wiper mechanism area.
If you could read the fault codes you would probably see some miss fires stored and given that the driving conditions described require the highest voltage spark.....hence the above.

Ok thanks guys, will check on the various suggestions and strangely enough the car was perfect this morning no vibration etc whatsoever; typical isn't it!!

Hence why I suspect water.....as it would boil off as the car warmed up.....and it would depend how and where the car was parked and if it rained as to if it would happen again.

Really good point that Mark, cheers could well be that.
