OK, so new tires today. BIG difference with deep tread blocks! However, feels like the rear end is going in completely different directions from the rest of the car. Really seems to be going all Fiat on me! :o
The front does the same to much less of an extent. Clearly feels like tall tread blocks. The back gives odd little twitches in roundabouts, and was starting to do that before the new tires. I was hoping that it was just the tires skipping on the wet road. However, it is very clear now with the tall tread blocks on top of it. If you do a gentle slalom weave at 50-60mph t feels like the rear subframe is barely connected to the car. The rear end really moves around to the side on each weave. Is this car supposed to have 4 wheel steering? :-/
Subframe bushes? What am I up against here?

subframe bushes would be my guess!!!!

What tyres are they because to be quite frank....I have noticed quite a differencee between these cheaper tyres and the better makes...

I have Nexens on the rear which have a similar tread pattern. Mine settled down after a couple of hundred miles.

That's what came off. Boy were they hard!
I had started to sense this on the old tires, but hoped it was just sliding around. Very wet lately so was possible. Just today the traction control came on when the autobox hit 2nd with the old tires and it wasn't floored . . .

I dont know. I mean, mine just aren't hard :-/
There is either something not quite right with your bilstein/tyre setup or......you're just too hard to please ::)

Worn springs? Changing the shocks makes a difference to the suspension but at the end of the day they are there as a part of a system and relying on them to do all the work controlling roll etc will lead to accelerated wear.
Mine feels the same as you are describing and all the bushes seem to be okay and the shocks are all new so the next stage for me is the springs. One manufacturer was noted as saying that if you shocks are worn out then there is the chance that your springs are as well as they both work together and therfore see the same amount of work.
