hi all
my 2002, v6 3.2l leaks coolant but it was not that bad, i had to refill it every 1 month,
but now it can not hold coolant for few seconds then i traced the leak , and it comes out of a hole at left hadn side of the rear of engine, as well i leakage comes from the top of gearbox that i couldnt trace, see pic
(http://www.aczua.com/leak.JPG)
i doubt the oil coolant but the leakage from the hole in the pic makes me think it inside between gear and engine,
any comments?
thanx in advance.

Think that hole is just a tooling hole from when the block was machined.
Coolant is running down from much higher up, its probably the heater by-pass valve but could be coming from a hose or from the valley.
Remove the wiper arms and scuttle to get a good look at the back of the engine, if its leakig so fast then it should be easy to find

the hole pointed by yellow arrow goes back towards gear and it does drip as i fill the coolant system?!

As matchless said, the most likely cause is the Heater Bypass Valve at the back of the engine.
Or, you may have a leak from the oil cooler cover, which is buried in the V in the engine block between the two cylinder heads.
Do you use Vauxhall Red Antifreeze 50/50 and change every two years?

hi all again
i found the leakage source,
(http://www.aczua.com/8.JPG)
so it was the plate cover of the oil cooler... so shall i change the oil cooler with it but as far as i can see there is nothing wrong with it and there was no oil in coolant, as well i wonder if this plate cover comes by its self or i have to buy it with the cooler?

The most likely cause of coolant leaks on the V6 are as follows
1) The heater bypass valve
2) The oil cooler plate to block seal
3) The stat to block seal
4) Main coolant pipe to block rear seal
5) Coolant bridge seals
I have never seen one holed like that.....and you cna get the plate seperately....I have a spare in the garage if you want it, its second hand but yours for the cost of postage.

Thats the 2nd I've seen with a big hole in like that. No idea why it happens...
-
I can only guess its due to running without antifreeze (or the correct concentration!)......as it looks to be corrosion...

or old antifreeze. yet another reminder to change antifreeze as per schedule ;)

Yes, seen that too...

thank you all for ur input, acually the holes were 3. i bought new plate for 12 pounds and fitted it, ( bending the oil pipes was not the smartest idea to do but it was managable,).....
and to answer you quistions about if i was using the correct coolant, yes i was with that i fount a little crack in the radiator so i used epoxy to colse it, but i dont think the radiator will hang for long, as i doubt the quality of material that the manifacturer using,,,,, Omega is not as good as i thought of it as german car, i used to have a mazda and it done 350 000 miles in 7 years with out any problem in cooling system, and this omega done 80 000 mile in 5 years and problems starts.
the shame that mazda does not make luxury car as it used to be..... so what will be my next car?

Possibly poor maintenace, lack of antifreeze
